Dianping.com Receives First-round Funding from Sequoia Capital

Dianping.com, a well-known Chinese restaurant directory and review website, has received its first-round funding from Sequoia Capital. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed. Zhang Tao, CEO of Dianping.com, said the Company would start the second-round financing in the third or fourth quarter this year. Dianping.com currently has about 1 million users. Zhang hopes to build the website into a Web2.0 local search and Internet community centered on city life.
