Jack invited us to his apartment in San Francisco. He only had three or four developers at that time and they gave us the Square application on our phones and a little Square reader. We brought it back to the office with the giddy feeling of a child with a new toy. Not only could we demo a cool product, but it was actually putting money in our pockets! We walked around the office giving demonstrations by charging as many of our colleagues as possible. There was something magical about the fact that the phones in our pockets were suddenly credit card terminals.
