Why we invested
It was 2005. User-generated content and online advertising were taking off. Video was the natural next space in this content evolution. Chad, Steve and Jawed were scrappy, smart and had built an easy-to-use product we believed in. YouTube’s goal was clear from the outset—become the primary destination for user-generated video content on the web.
