Attentive is a personalized text messaging platform changing the way consumers interact with businesses and organizations. The company is one of the fastest growing startups in New York City and recently raised a $470 million Series E investment led by Coatue in March 2021. Other investors in Attentive include Bain Capital Ventures, Sequoia, IVP.  
 
We work with 4,000+ of the most innovative brands like Coach, Urban Outfitters, CB2, Pura Vida, Lulus, and Jack in the Box. Attentive was founded in 2016 by the co-founders of TapCommerce, a mobile marketing platform that was acquired by Twitter in 2014.
 
Attentive Mobile is seeking a Senior Counsel to join Attentive’s growing legal team and report to the Associate General Counsel. You should have superb legal experience and strong business judgment. You will serve as Attentive’s first employment attorney, working closely with our business leaders and  recruiting and people teams.

Responsibilities:

    • Provide advice on full range of employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, termination, compensation and benefits
    • Draft employment contracts, separation agreements and other employment documentation relating to employee population
    • Review and provide guidance on drafting and development of HR policies and procedures globally
    • Lead or provide assistance with internal investigations
    • Defend, supervise and manage employment related claims and litigation, including managing outside counsel, responding to administrative charges, complaints, attorney’s letters, settlement demands and claims globally
    • Develop training for Company employees regarding employment law matters
    • Provide, at times, advice and counsel in the area of global mobility, expatriate and international assignments and global immigration matters
    • Provide counsel on employee-related service agreements with outside vendors
    • Provide support to maintain, determine and/or remediate legal compliance issues impacting the company’s global operations from a total employment law, compensation and benefits perspective
    • Provide other legal assistance as needed to the General Counsel and the Associate General Counsel on employment law and other matters

Qualifications:

      • Juris Doctor degree and qualified to practice law in-house in New York or the state where you live
      • At least 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at or representing successful, high-growth venture-backed companies 
      • Able to provide legally sound, pragmatic and practical recommendations under tight deadlines
      • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
      • A strong “business-friendly” style that comes with an understanding that the Legal team’s primary purpose is to support the growth and success of the business
