Embark Trucks is America’s Longest-Running Self-Driving Truck Program and is bringing autonomous freight mainstream. As covered by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Forbes, TechCrunch and and other outlets, Embark has announced plans to go public via a $5.2 billion SPAC deal that is intended to provide Embark $614 million to fund future expansion. Currently, Embark moves freight between LA and Phoenix using our purpose-built transfer hubs. Embark has aligned itself with truck manufacturers, shippers, and carriers to integrate our technology into the freight ecosystem, pursuing a business model where fleets own and operate Embark trucks. This is an incredibly exciting time for autonomous vehicles and our team is looking to grow.
We are looking for an experienced accountant to lead the entry of transactions in the month-end close and has experience with a full cycle accounting process. This will include ownership of details in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Capitalized Software, and additional workstreams. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts.

What You'll Do:

    • Assist in the month end close of general ledger accounts to ensure the integrity of account balances
    • Research and propose resolutions for identified issues or discrepancies
    • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forward analysis, and related supporting work papers in the following areas of focus: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Capitalized Software, and others
    • Review and analyze reports, invoices, and contracts to determine the appropriate journal entries
    • Prepare fluctuation analysis for assigned accounts
    • Prepare audit and tax requested schedules and address follow up items
    • Assist in the treasury function, such as processing of ACH, wire and check payments
    • Ensure control procedures are executed and work paper documentation is compliant; prepare all necessary data and analysis to support external audit, internal control, and testing requests.

Required Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
    • 2-5 years of experience
    • Completed or pursuing completion of CPA
    • Direct experience in Accounting Operations and month-end close

Preferred Experience:

    • Technology or SAAS industry
    • Big 4 Public Accounting, internal or financial audit
    • Cloud based accounting systems like Netsuite, Quickbooks Online,, Expensify, Gusto
    • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to lead and drive complex operational initiatives
