Mountain View, CA, US
Job Description / Skills Required

LOCATION: Mountain View, CA

As a Software Engineer at StackRox, you’ll be working on new features and core backend services of the StackRox Kubernetes Security Platform, which will help our customers safely run the world’s largest commercial Kubernetes clusters in private and public clouds. Our engineering team is small but mighty and that means you’ll be able to make an immediate impact on the product, APIs, architecture, and engineering processes. With Kubernetes adoption rapidly growing, our team constantly faces new challenges like simplifying our customer deployments, improving performance to support new workloads, or exposing gRPC services behind load balancers – all of this ensures our product just works for those getting started with Kubernetes and experts alike.

Design, build, maintain, and test core backend services and APIs for the the StackRox Kubernetes Security Platform.

Work across our product, focusing on efficient data collection, event processing and ingestion, storage and persistence, as well as APIs and presentation.

Collaborate with other engineers, product managers and product designers to shape, build, and improve new and existing features.

Own core areas of the product, lead their design, and be responsible for their quality and health.

Assist our Customer Support team in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues.

Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

Have the opportunity to build a personal brand and strengthen the company brand through technical blog posts and open-source contributions.

Write high-quality, maintainable software.

Are open to learning new technologies, programming languages, and concepts. We work in Go, but we care much more about your general engineering skills than knowledge of a specific programming language.

Enjoy delivering high-quality software through a principled, “design document-first” approach.

Helping your team members through code reviews.

Have previously built extensible and maintainable APIs.

Have experience with scalable distributed systems.

Know your way around Kubernetes. You’ve worked with Pod Security Policies, Helm charts, and Admission Controllers.

Thrive in a collaborative environment working with different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Don’t worry if you haven’t done all of the above – that’s okay! We build around people's strengths and provide opportunities for our team members to grow.
