What You'll Do:

The Manager of Merchandise Planning Analytics, reporting into the Senior Director of Merchandise Planning and Analytics, is a strategic partner to the Buying and Product Development teams and informs merchandising decisions using data and analysis.  The ideal candidate possesses the passion to drive tangible business results using data, the analytical horsepower to solve a wide range and large number of merchandising questions quickly but effectively, the ability to flex around rapidly changing and often competing priorities, strong collaboration and communication skills, and an innovative drive to improve processes, tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform rigorous analytics and derive insights that will help drive merchandise strategy across the business; Specific areas of focus may include:
    • Determining areas of opportunity within the assortment for both of our business lines - subscription box business and our online shopping experience
    • Understand what drives customer retention by honing in on customer behavior and preferences and how that marries with our product offering
    • Analyzing opportunities within our inventory management framework to serve our various selling channels
  • Partner with the data science, operations and product teams to create a new inventory forecasting system for our evolving business needs
  • Engage in an arm-in-arm analytical partnership with the Buyers as to become a true business stakeholder and driver of the buying and merchandising function; Advise the Buying team on assortment strategy, allocations between our channels and buy projections
  • Design and develop new reporting and dashboards to drive better forecasting, inventory planning, and performance measurement
  • Analyze in-season performance to identify areas of risk and opportunity, and create strategies to mitigate or accelerate
  • Manage our in-season inventory, balancing sales and margin goals
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including operations, marketing and product on analysis and creating and optimizing processes around merchandising functions in an innovative business environment

  • 3+ years in an analytical role (e.g. management consulting, investment banking, accounting, FP&A); e-commerce or start-up experience a plus but not a requirement
  • Outstanding Excel skills
  • Bachelor level degree in business, finance, economics, statistics or mathematics (preferred); MBA a plus but not a requirement
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude for working in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment: highly self-directed, results-oriented and able to work at both strategic and tactical levels
