Aurora hires people who are excited to build the future of transportation. We are looking for engineers to help build up our corpus of thousands of simulation test scenarios. These scenarios are carefully designed to test and validate the performance of our Autonomous Vehicle software in a virtual environment. Engineers will use a combination of our in-house tools and Python scripting to create and validate scenarios as well as develop automation and tooling to support the creation process.
- Learn to use In-house GUI tools to create synthetic scenarios
- Use Python scripting to procedurally generate scenarios
- Curate our (very large) set of existing scenarios
- Use our internal simulation tools to test scenarios
- Build tooling and processes to help streamline and scale the scenario creation process
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or General Engineering
- Python or C++ experience
- Good mathematical skills
- Understands the requirements for software testing: How to build robust, safe software through strong testing practices
- Passion for solving challenging, impactful problems
- Experience in the autonomous vehicle domain
- Experience in robotics or simulation

The Founding Team
Aurora has assembled the most experienced leadership team in the space. Chris Urmson helped lead Carnegie Mellon’s efforts in Darpa’s Grand Challenges, then was a founding member of Google’s self-driving team. Sterling Anderson developed MIT'S Intelligent CoPilot, then led the team that delivered Tesla Autopilot. Drew Bagnell, also a Carnegie Mellon alum, is a machine learning expert who helped build Uber’s autonomy effort. At Aurora, these three continue to bring experts from all areas of the industry to the team. We are funded by Amazon, T Rowe Price, and some of Silicon Valley’s best venture capital firms, including Sequoia, Greylock and Index Ventures.
