Tessian's Human Layer Security platform uses machine learning to understand human relationships and communication behavior in order to protect businesses from threats executed by people on email.

Financial Controller
London, GB
Job Description / Skills Required

Tessian protects every business’s mission by securing the human layer.

We're building intelligent security that works for human beings as they are, not how security policies would like them to be. Using machine learning technology, Tessian automatically predicts and eliminates advanced threats on email caused by human error - like data exfiltration, accidental data loss, business email compromise and phishing attacks - with minimal disruption to employees' workflow. As a result, employees are empowered to do their best work, without security getting in their way.

Founded in 2013, Tessian is backed by renowned investors like Sequoia, Accel and Balderton and has hubs in San Francisco, Boston, and London.

Finance at Tessian

At Tessian, we take a modern approach to finance - our function enables and drives the business, and is a key partner to Heads of Department in achieving their objectives. We believe in high-efficiency, automated processes where possible, and avoiding bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake at all costs.

We are looking for a proactive, driven, detail-orientated Financial Controller to join our talented team. This is an amazing opportunity to own financial reporting in a fast moving, high growth environment, and will be fully supported by the Head of Finance.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll get to:

Own and run an efficient month end process, to produce a set of accurate and timely consolidated management accounts (P&L, cashflow, balance sheet, budget variances).
        Review payroll journals and reconciliations
Continually improve our systems and processes to ensure they are ready to support business growth and expansion in the US (& globally)
Maintain and review internal control systems and vendor assessment
Prepare & Reconcile for the financial year end
Manage our end-to-end audit process - while acting as first point of contact for external auditors
Handle all statutory and tax reporting in the UK (VAT, CT, PSA, P11d, Global mobility) & all state and tax reporting in the US (Sales tax and state filings)

We’d love to meet someone who:

Is a several years post-qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Has proven operational accounting and financial management experience, ideally working in-house for a high growth start-up
Is a self-driven & highly motivated problem solver with super attention to detail
Is constantly looking to improve processes and takes responsibility to get things done
Has strong knowledge of financial accounting standards and Saas revenue recognition
Ideally has multi-entity experience, working with the US tax and state filings.
Ideally has experience with our tech stack, including Xero & SaaSOptics

Why we think you'll love it here....

It’s important to us that all Tessians are part of the journey we’re on, so we offer equity options with every role and benchmark to provide above market rate salaries - there’s plenty more too….
