About the Analytics Team

Thumbtack’s Analytics team is a tight-knit group charged with empowering Thumbtack to use data to guide decisions. We collaborate with teams across the company on a wide variety of impactful projects; everything from exploring click-level data on user experiences to evaluating the impact of a new business model on company performance. This role is about so much more than creating dashboards - it’s telling the story of our business in a way that inspires action.

About the Role and You

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with finance, product, and operations teams to design, build and maintain infrastructure to enable Thumbtack to gain insights into revenue trends and drivers. Additionally, this role will also play a key part in developing Thumbtack’s new business and revenue model. We are looking for someone who love diving into complex systems and making sense of them for yourself and others. You sweat the details to ensure the highest quality of work. You have good intuition for data and a strong technical background.


Partner with product, finance, and operations teams in the on-going development and support of revenue and monetization models, lead-to-cash operations, including billing and collections systems, processes, and policies

Support in audit, reporting, system enhancements for revenue data

Build and maintain reports, models, and visualizations which provide insight into our revenue trends and drivers

Make recommendations based on detailed analysis and a deep understanding of our business

Contribute to our team and company data culture through peer collaboration, training, coaching and more

Must-Have Qualifications

BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Math, or Statistics

3 to 5 years experience working in quantitative or analytical role, preferably in accounting, finance, technology, or consulting

Strong SQL skills and ability to query large data sets

Being an expert at Excel and Google Sheets

Sharp business judgement and the ability to see past the noise

A strong attention to detail and willing to dive into complex systems and processes

Strong communicator, attentive listener and compelling explainer

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Experience with marketplaces and analysing marketplace dynamics

Experience in both fast ­growing startups and larger (public) companies
