The Employment Counsel position will be a key player in our dynamic legal team, reporting directly to our Corporate AGC, and will be responsible for the wide range of employment-related matters that impact 1000+ Medallians all across the globe.


Provide expert counsel on domestic and international employment-related issues, including HR best practices, ethics and compliance, employee relations/investigations, hiring/exits, restrictive covenants, employee mobility, wage & hour and fedgov contracting compliance.
Guide the strategic direction of the employment legal practice
Cultivate a deep partnership with the Medallia’s People & Culture team, finance team, and other stakeholders across the globe to drive cross-functional, complex projects
Craft and operationalize scalable employment policies and programs that enhance Medallia’s unique culture, and constantly innovate and improve upon them
Proactively identify, assess and manage risk; design and deliver internal compliance training initiatives
Design scalable self-service capabilities for People & Culture and other internal teams
Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including employment contracts, incentive compensation plans, and vendor agreements.

Demonstrated experience providing quick, solution-oriented counsel to business stakeholders of all levels
High emotional intelligence and business acumen, combined with deep employment law expertise
Proven ability to think strategically and creatively to solve challenging, complex problems
Professionalism, integrity and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive matters
Detail-oriented, quick learner, with ability to flourish in both collaborative and independent work environments


Prior experience in-house, preferably at a high-growth technology company
4-7 years of legal experience in employment-related matters. Experience in CA and international employment law preferred
Current member in good standing of the California Bar (or other state, and willing to register as in-house counsel in California)
Bachelor's and JD from accredited law school, with a strong record of academic achievement
