Opto-Mechanical Systems Technician

We are looking for a technician with experience with opto-mechanical systems. Projects will involve small interdisciplinary teams working on complex systems that integrate hardware, software, and electronics. Candidates must be able to work independently and proactively with minimal direction and documentation.


Execute regular alignment and calibration procedures.

Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.

Troubleshoot failures, problems, and abnormalities

Work with design engineers to improve designs and conduct experiments/collect data

Help to document requirements for new products and processes

Assemble prototypes of complex opto-mechanical systems with minimal documentation

Modify, repair and fabricate components

Be able to work on basic prototyping in machine shop using lathe/mill/drill machines


3+ years experience in relevant fields

Prior experience working on systems and basic alignment/calibration techniques (having worked on opto-mechanical systems a plus).

Ability to read technical drawings

Able to use a computer to run test programs and record data, given instruction.

Discipline in recording important information such as test data and serial numbers.

Familiarity with 3D CAD is a plus

Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems a plus
