Github is looking for a senior-level data analyst to join the Infrastructure Operations group. You will focus on helping the Infrastructure organization, make sound operational choices and inform broader business strategy. You’ll get to work with large, complex data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
Projects and analysis will often be multifaceted and combine data extraction/ETL, statistical analysis, and financial modeling, helping deliver fully-informed strategic recommendations.
This is an individual contributor position with significant growth potential.
Support the Infrastructure Operations team in Public Cloud & 1P Infrastructure Projects
Capacity optimizations & forecasting
Data-informed strategic research and analysis
Cost and COGS work
Broader strategic business recommendations (e.g. cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis) with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders.
Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
Full stack data analyst- capable of robust statistical analysis, ad-hoc ETL, writing data pipelines, basic tool dev, etc. This is a largely autonomous role (from an engineering support standpoint).
Experience articulating business questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data. - Experience translating analysis results into business recommendations.
Demonstrated leadership and self-direction. Demonstrated willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.
SQL, Python, and R (or equivalent).
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
Masters in quantitative or strategic field.
Experience with Presto, Looker.
You use a pragmatic approach to decision making and design choices.
