Our Communications team brings the Dropbox story to life and shares it with the world. We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our growing team in Tokyo. As the Communications Manager for Japan, you will own and lead the communications program from strategy to execution, driving creative and strategic activities to support the Japan business. This is a highly transparent role and one that will enable you to make a tangible impact.
Stakeholder management: ability to partner with, and lead multiple stakeholders across different regions (Japan, Asia Pacific, San Francisco); as well as different functions (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Channel, Communications)
Spokespeople mentoring and counsel: Be the trusted advisor to local spokespeople and business leaders including visiting executives; coach and prepare spokespeople for interviews; provide constructive counsel and feedback as needed
Develop and execute a world-class communications program: Build a communications strategy that meets the unusual needs of the Japan business; develop local and nuanced narratives that ladder up to the overall Dropbox mission; unearth opportunities to tell our story in new and creative ways; measure, report, and present on the momentum of the communications program
Deepen Dropbox’s relationships with the local press, analyst, and influencer community
Support internal communications as needed
Lead our PR agency and ensure the program is supported appropriately and within budget
Explore opportunities to broaden out the program to other parts of Asia
Experience and qualifications
7+ years of Public Relations/Communications experience in an in-house or agency environment - a mix of B2B and B2C experience is desirable
Sophisticated knowledge of the Japan business environment and an understanding of what makes news
Deep relationships with media, analysts, and influencers across business, technology, consumer and creative industries
Shown ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in fast-paced, dynamic environments, as well as the ability to call out appropriately
Experience in issues management, integrated communications, and navigating a global organization
Clear and confident interpersonal skills
An abundance of creative energy
Fluent in both Japanese and English (written and verbal)
Ability to travel
