Shreyas Nair

I have had multiple opportunities to build my life and career outside India. Something deeply personal always drove me to come back to India, first from Oman twelve years back, and more recently from the US. I take a lot of pride in being able to serve entrepreneurs in my country who are making an impact and driving change. This sense of purpose keeps me going through a tough day or week.

I never imagined I’d work in the world of venture capital. I have always been intrigued by the power and scale that technology creates and have aspired to learn what it takes to build an enduring technology-enabled business. This curiosity eventually brought me to Sequoia India!

My family emigrated to Oman when I was six. I returned to India to study engineering. The values I grew up with are the most cherished inheritance from my family. They have taught me to always learn, never take myself too seriously, stay grounded and be forgiving when things do not go as per plan. After all, we don’t control the outcome! we can merely steer in the right direction and the universe has to play its part.
