Running a company is slightly contradictory to living in the moment because you always need to anticipate what’s going to happen.
When we first met Mathilde during Front’s Seed round, we saw a rare combination of warmth and determination. We failed to dream with her then and passed. Gratefully, we met again during their Series B and didn’t make the same mistake. In Front’s bright, airy, 40-person San Francisco headquarters we found a committed, passionate group with Lego models at every desk—all born from Mathilde’s influence. Two days later, we were back in their office with a term sheet and Front and Sequoia’s logos built from Lego bricks. This marked the start of an enduring partnership.
